Improving Environmental Performance:
Next Generation Compliance Tools, Theory, and Practice

In connection to the Next Generation Compliance and Enforcement series of activities of INECE and its partners, a conference on innovative approaches towards environmental compliance and enforcement will be held, as previously announced, on

April 21 and 22, 2015, Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

This event will be hosted by Erasmus University Rotterdam, with support of the NL Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate.

The conference will start on April 21, with a late-afternoon workshop on Innovative approaches to interventions. Subsequently, there will be a networking ‘walking’ dinner. This will be followed by a moderated evening key-note session with four renowned experts in the field of compliance and enforcement, with addresses and discussions on the theme ‘Compliance and enforcement across borders’.

The afternoon and evening part will be co-organised with the Dutch Association of Supervisors, Enforcers and Regulators (VIDE) in connection to their annual meeting.

The second day, April 22, will start with a scene-setting plenary session and continue with 4 parallel workshops on specific themes.

The workshop themes, selected from submitted conference papers, are:

  • Ethical behavior
  • Regulation as a learning system
  • Self-regulation and self-policing
  • Smart Instruments for Public Law Enforcers

The seminar will be concluded at 4 PM.

More details on the program can be found here. The information will be regularly updated.

You are cordially invited to attend the conference. The admittance fee is 100 €, which covers the costs for the conference dinner, lunch and coffee/tea/refreshments, and a part of the organisational expenses. Rotterdam has an excellent choice of hotels and good public transport.

You may sign up for the seminar via the registration form. This will lead you through the registration procedure. After successful registration, you will receive further guidance for payment of the conference fee in the beginning of March.
